The show must go on!
Hey guys! Sorry this blog post is coming up so late, I have just been slammed since I got back from Orlando last week from the PGA Show. Spring orders have been flooding in and I am already sold out of some styles in my Spring Collection! But not to worry, I saved just enough for ya’ll to enjoy :) Can’t wait until NEXT MONTH when those new styles will be available on the website!
So the PGA Show…what an experience. It was seriously like a preps dream come true in there. I looked to my right and there was Callaway, Taylormade, and Mizuno; Looked to my left and there was Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren, and Brooks Brothers; And then looked again and there was Ame & LuLu, Katherine Way, Gretchen Scott, Crab and Cleek, etc. The list goes on and on! I have personally never experienced anything like it and it was ah-mazing.
Our journey started on Monday, and I was personally nervous we weren’t going to make it out of town. Nashville had just had a huge amount of snow hit and I hadn’t been able to leave my house for a couple days because of it. But my sister, Abby, and I were able to leave and we were on our way for an 11 hour drive down to Florida. I could just feel myself thaw out the farther south I got. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back to the cold! It’s hard going back to 30 degrees when you get used to high 70’s all week, ya know?
The next day was move-in day at the show, and this is where the nerves kind of hit. This is the first big trade show that Sydney Elizabeth had ever done and I had no clue where to go, what door to go in, where my booth was, how to get my stuff in there, where to park, etc. We pulled up to the gigantic Orange County Convention Center and we began to unload. I think we did something semi-illegal during this time, because we parked in the taxi lane by the loading dock and unloaded when we were technically supposed to go wait in an hour-long line to get in the loading dock, but hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
Anyways, almost 4 hours later and my booth was looking pretty awesome. I had this kind of Palm Beach boutique-feeling going on which is exactly what I wanted. One of my favorite parts about my booth was the poster-board my sister and I made. It had pictures of all of YOU on it wearing Sydney Elizabeth! It was sentimental in a way because it documented the past year I had. Put on a pretty white frame and viola! I also loved the candle I had on our table that was filled with sand and seashells. It smelled so good and just felt so warm and welcoming to people walking in and out.
The morning of the first day of the show arrived and I probably didn’t sleep at all the night before. You know when you feel like you never really went to sleep, and you just laid there all night? Well, that was me. I was just constantly thinking about how the day would go, all the stuff I still had to do, etc. So as soon as we got ready we headed to the car and…pouring down rain. Not going to lie, I was kind of freaking out because I knew my hair would never last in this weather and I still had my garment rack of samples that I had to roll in and just knew that they would get all wet. Not the ideal way to start off the first morning, but we got it done, the samples stayed dry (by some miracle), and I was ready to take on a day of appointments!
The actual show was so much fun, guys. We got to dress up everyday looking cute in our Sydney Elizabeth outfits, and showed the different ways they could be styled. I had people coming up to me saying they followed me on Instagram and asking to take pictures with me, others saying that they loved that I was doing something different and was setting a new trend in golf apparel…it was just so much fun.
I also met some new friends while I was down there. All the other exhibitors and PGA staff were so nice, friendly, and helpful and were a lot of fun to be around all week. The ladies from Dolly Mama Designs were some of the sweetest people ever. Also, Tucker Blair was super cool and I just loved their style.
The show lasted 3 days and by the 3rd day we were all exhausted. I had been on my feet from 6 am to 6 pm all day for 3 days and I was just ready for a day off. So what did we do? We went to Disney World, of course! We met some of my family down there and had a blast!
Overall, my experience at the PGA Show was great. I had so much fun, met a lot of new people, got the Collection into a bunch of new stores, and met a lot of great people along the way. I will definitely be back next year!
Stay tuned to find out a Sydney Elizabeth retailer near YOU!
